Medical Device Design Challenge:
Expandable Height Trial for Thoracolumbar Corpectomy
Designed two competing expandable surgical instruments in response to a Globus Medical engineering challenge. Design 1 uses a dual-layer scissor jack driven by a self-locking lead screw (17.4 to 30.6 mm range, 490.5 N distraction force, 25.78 N hand force). Design 2 uses Pascal's Law hydraulics with a lead-screw-driven master piston (16 to 27 mm range, 6.68 N thumb force). Both designs include full force chain analysis, parametric pitch selection studies, self-locking verification, height readout systems, and regulatory alignment to FDA 21 CFR Part 880 and ISO 17664.

ML-Based Transcriptomic Biomarker Analysis for Alzheimer Detection
Graduate Coursework β Quantitative Systems Biology
Applied a Python-based machine learning pipeline to three GEO gene expression datasets (GSE33000, GSE5281, GSE48350) totaling 600+ post-mortem brain samples for binary classification of Alzheimerβs disease vs. control. Performed RMA normalization, ComBat batch correction across multi-platform microarray data, and PCA for dimensionality reduction and batch effect visualization. Trained and evaluated logistic regression, decision tree, and random forest classifiers; logistic regression achieved 94% accuracy with feature weights mapping to biologically validated AD-associated genes including ABCA7, PLD3, and FAM222A.
